Partner Visa

The Partner Visa allows the spouse or de facto partner of an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or eligible New Zealand citizen to live in Australia. There are two main pathways:

  1. Onshore Partner Visa (Subclass 820 & 801) – Apply while in Australia (temporary 820 leads to permanent 801).

  2. Offshore Partner Visa (Subclass 309 & 100) – Apply from outside Australia (temporary 309 leads to permanent 100).

Key Requirements:

✔ Genuine & Continuing Relationship – Must prove a real and committed relationship (marriage or de facto for at least 12 months, unless exempt).
✔ Sponsorship – An eligible Australian partner must sponsor the applicant.
✔ Health & Character Checks – Medical exams and police clearances required.
✔ Financial & Accommodation Proofs – Evidence of shared finances, living arrangements, and social recognition of the relationship.

Visa Benefits:

✅ Live in Australia with your partner (onshore or offshore options).
✅ Work, study, and access Medicare (once eligible).
✅ Pathway to permanent residency (PR) and eventually citizenship.
✅ Include dependent children in the application.

  2. Complete health and police checks.

  3. Submit an online application (onshore 820 or offshore 309).
